In 1989, on February 15, the last Soviet troops left the state of Afghanistan. Thus ended the 10-year war in which the Soviet Union lost more than 15,000 of its citizens. It is clear that the Day of the withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan is both a holiday of Afghan veterans and the day of remembrance and sorrow of all the dead soldiers-internationalists.
